About EFTPOS New Zealand

In 1994, the demand for EFTPOS payments embarked on a steep growth curve. A "cultural card swing" had occurred as the public began to switch to cards as their preferred method of payment and pressure began to mount on retailers to provide it.

Founders Peter Marshall and Mark Thomson spotted a gap in the market and created EFTPOS Rentals in 1994 to fill this gap. In 1996, the company become known as EFTPOS New Zealand and over the next few years it grew to become New Zealand's largest independent terminal supplier.

Purchased by ANZ Bank in June 2000, the purchase transformed ETPOS New Zealand into the only EFTPOS provider able to take care of an organisation's total card acceptance needs. Taking the existing terminal business, ANZ added its card processing capabilities and EFTPOS network to create a payments proposition unique in the New Zealand market, which it retains today.

Today, we see ourselves as a market leading EFTPOS technology company, with the stability and security of being owned by New Zealand's largest bank. We specialise in providing organisations of all types and sizes with all their EFTPOS payment needs.

In The Community

We support a number of not-for-profit and charitable organisations each year with free terminal rental, network connection and debit card payments at their fund raising and gala events. Charities we have recently supported include Heart Children New Zealand, Cure Kids New Zealand and Plunket.
