Interfaced EFTPOS

poslink_logo_2011.jpgOur basic POSLink Interface Solution lets you connect a standalone EFTPOS terminal to your point of sale (POS) via a simple one-way or two-way messaging protocol using a serial cable connection. This provides faster and more accurate transactions at the POS.

The basic POSLink interface is suitable for all general retail environments and smaller businesses that wish to interface one POS with one EFTPOS terminal. For larger businesses with multiple lanes and terminals over multiple locations, we recommend our integrated solution PC EFTPOS or our POSLink IP Interface.

POSLink is certified with a selection of POS and depending on your POS some integration may be required.

The POSLink one-way interface

With the one-way interface the POS sends a simple one way message to the EFTPOS terminal containing the transaction value therefore removing the need to re-enter the purchase details in the terminal. Once your customer has swiped or dipped their card, selected their account type and entered their pin, you are required to acknowledge the transaction outcome on the EFTPOS terminal and if approved, tender off the transaction in the POS.

The Benefits and Key Advantages of the one-way interface are:

  • Saves time - no need to enter the same information into two separate systems
  • Reduces keying errors - the transaction information only needs to be keyed in once via the point of sale or electronic cash register
  • If the point of sale or electronic cash register goes down, the terminal can continue to operate as a standalone terminal
  • IP interface allows for more than one point of sale systems to access a single terminal, or visa versa.

The POSLink two-way interface

With the two-way interface, the main difference is that the once your customer has entered their PIN and the transaction has been sent off for approval, the terminal will send a response message back to the POS advising of the transaction outcome. If the transaction is approved, the POS will automatically tender-off the transaction.

The Benefits and Key Advantages of the two-way interface are:

  • Saves time - no need to enter the same information into two separate systems
  • Reduces keying errors - the transaction information only needs to be keyed in once via the point of sale or electronic cash register
  • If the point of sale or electronic cash register goes down, the terminal can continue to operate as a standalone terminal
  • Speed of transaction - terminal sends prompts back to point of sale or electronic cash register for automatic sale completion.
  • IP interface allows for more than one point of sale systems to access a single terminal, or visa versa.

Latest POSLink Interface Enhancements

We've taken our basic POSLink solution and introduced a new market leading IP interface connection which supports wireless connectivity. We've also added the standard hospitality functions you'd expect like tipping and open and closed transactions.

With the IP interface and wireless connectivity, you get faster transaction processing and the ability to connect multiple terminals to one or more POS or to connect multiple POS to one or more EFTPOS terminals. This gives you more flexibility with your payments set-up and how and where you take payments from your customers including a basic pay at table solution when used in conjunction with the VeriFone Vx670 wireless terminal.
